Painting With Fibers

Instead of painting on a traditional substrate such as stretched canvas or wood panel, I construct my paintings out of fabric, preferring the limitations of remnants and thrift store finds. These pieces are assembled in collage-like fashion embellished with acrylic paint and craft materials; thread, ribbon, beads, glitter, etc. Domestic objects find there way in some compositions (a curtain, dish towel, scouring pad to clean pots-just to name a few) as well as swatches of knitting and crochet work.
